When shopping around for an Acai berry supplement, there are some things that you should know. First off, you are not looking for any Acai product that has been “spray dried.” When a product is spray dried, this means that the Acai is taken and heated up to a very high temperature and sprayed with an unhealthy substance. When Acai is heated to those high temperatures, all of its vital nutrients are essentially released. Should you ever buy a spray dried product, you should be aware that you are not getting any beneficial effects from your Acai. After the spray drying process, nearly half of the natural Acai substance has disappeared and is replaced with a flavor enhancing substance.
Spray dried forms of Acai supplements are typically cheap in price compared to the beneficial “freeze dried” forms of Acai. There is really no comparison to the amount of quality you get from freeze dried to the amount of quality that you get from spray dried. Chances are high that if you order a supplement of Acai and it does not clearly state that it is freeze dried on the label, that it has been spray dried. Many companies are actually packaging their Acai and making it appear to be the real deal, when you are actually getting ripped off because the Acai berry product within the supplement is not authentic. Companies like to add their own natural ingredients in addition to a small amount of Acai and then sell it as a natural Acai supplement. Just because a supplement lists that it is “all-natural,” does not automatically mean that it is one-hundred percent pure Acai. Many Acai supplements do contain all natural Acai, but they also contain other all natural additives. This means you are getting somewhere around thirty percent of your supplement that is pure Acai, while the other seventy percent is made up of natural ingredients that may have no beneficial effect on your health.
Also, I never recommend that you buy a product that is manufactured as an “Acai extract.” An extract does not mean that the most nutritious part of the Acai berry is included with your Acai product. In many cases, Acai extracts do not provide nearly the benefit that other forms of Acai do. The extracts do not contain all the parts of the berry that provide individuals with health benefits.
The worst possible purchase of an Acai product would be an extracted form of spray dried Acai. When you see the words “spray dried” and “extract” turn and run the other way. Instead, you want to be a smart Acai consumer and look for the words “organic,” “freeze dried,” and “pure.” You should also be aware that you are looking for a product that uses high amounts of Acai pulp and not Acai seeds. Acai seeds are not very nutritious compared to the pulp and skin of the Acai berry.
No research has demonstrated the seed of the Acai berry to be beneficial to your health. If you ever see Acai seed juice being sold, you should understand that it is not very nutritious. Instead, if you are going to purchase a form of Acai juice, look for Acai skin and pulp concentrate.
